I attended CenterPoint Massage & Shiatsu Therapy School & Clinic and earned a Diploma in Therapeutic Massage in December 2010. In February 2011, I earned National Certification for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCTMB). The course work I completed at Centerpoint included 735 clock hours of training in Swedish and Therapeutic Massage, Anatomy, Physiology, Kinesiology, Pathology, Personal and Professional Development, CPR and First Aid, and participation in CenterPoint’s Massage Student Clinic where I worked directly with the public.
Since earning my Diploma and National Certification I have continued to learn other modalities. These have included hot stone therapy, forearm massage as taught by Shari Auth (the Auth MethodTM), Lomi Lomi as taught by Hi'ilani Ra, and Lomi Lomi as taught by Tom Cochran (Sacred LomiTM). Of these, Lomi Lomi is my favorite because it is very much a spiritual and physical dance that honors the internal and external beauty of every person. I've modified the Lomi Lomi I've learned into a style I call Spa Lomi Lomi.
Prior to attending CenterPoint, I worked in mortgage and retail banking for over 20 years. While working in the banking industry, I was free to pursue other passions which included an obsession with learning about and experiencing a variety of religious and spiritual traditions, owning several homes while learning how to do many kinds of home improvements, and it also included a lifestyle of staying fit and consuming mostly organic whole and minimally processed foods. What was the most fun of all, however, was getting out on the social dance floor to learn West Coast Swing and a few of the local Latin dance styles. In hindsight, I can see all those experiences were perfect preparation for my future.
Truly, I couldn't be happier with the massage work I'm doing now. Changing careers is one of the best decisions I've ever made! I've successfully combined my professional experience, a massage education, and my spiritual, handiwork, fitness, nutrition and dance experience into a career where I positively affect people's bodies, minds and lives through therapeutic nurturing touch. It’s an incredible way to live! For me it is a form of Love, which is the only thing that really matters...
I am so grateful, and I look forward to working with you!
